- When Porsche set about making a compact SUV the brief was clear: to make the only ‘sports car’ in the sector. With its strong performance and dynamic handling the Macan S exceeds all expectations
- A strong and light monocoque structure underpins the sporty personality of the Macan, with a low centre of gravity in particular aiding its dynamic performance. This has been achieved through a range of measures, including intelligent use of different metals and larger items such as the bonnet and tailgate being fashioned from aluminium
- The Macan S uses multi-link suspension on the front and rear axle, with coil springs and twin tube dampers as the standard specification. As an option, the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) system is available, offering a choice of three settings: Comfort, Sport and Sport Plus. A further option is Porsche air suspension, which includes height adjustment, self-levelling and the PASM system. This system provides three levels of ride height, the highest (+ 40mm) intended for off-road driving, while the lower setting at (-15mm) makes for an even sportier drive on-road

An off-road button on the centre console switches all the relevant systems to a traction-orientated mode

- The interior of the Macan S offers an appealing mix of high-set cabin typical of an SUV but with a lower, sportier driving position than is usually associated with this type of vehicle. The sloping centre console also echoes the firm’s sports cars, and there’s a wide range of comfort, safety and infotainment options on the options list, including advanced driver assistance systems
