BMW X3 M Sports Package

Thanks to the Limited Sport Edition for the BMW X3, it is now possible to gain even more enjoyment from the dynamics and the superiority of a Sports Activity Vehicle. The attractive combination of premium equipment options, emphasising both the sporty handling qualities as well as the BMW X3’s innovative character, also includes an M Sports Package with 19" alloys and M steering wheel, sports seats in exclusive Alcantara/ Walknappa leather as well as Xenon headlights with adaptive cornering light technology. The Limited Sport Edition, which offers an exclusive and well-balanced combination of the M Sports Package contents with a number of selected options for paintwork as well as exterior and interior design, completes the range of special edition options for the BMW X3. Just like the BMW X3 Edition Exclusive and the BMW X3 Edition Lifestyle, the Limited Sport Edition for this SAV model offers one the possibility of expressing individual style in an exceptionally focused manner.

The German market launch of the Limited Sport Edition for the BMW X3 is scheduled for March 2009. The production period will be restricted to one year. The Limited Sport Edition can be combined with all six BMW X3 engine variants. Thanks to the diversity of the high-class equipment features included in the Limited Sport Edition, some of which are available exclusively for this edition, there is an attractive price advantage compared to the individual options available for all versions of the BMW X3. Depending on the engine variant, the price of the Limited Sport Edition is between 7250 and 7900 Euros.

The M Sports Package with M Aerodynamics Package, sports suspension and 19" Kamacite Grey matt-finished M alloys boasting a Y-spoke design and the speed-dependent steering assistant Servotronic, which are all included in the Limited Sport Edition, underline the fascinating agility that characterises the experience of driving a BMW X3 to an even greater extent. Moreover, the Limited Sport Edition also comprises Xenon headlights with adaptive cornering light technology, a headlight cleaning system, a rain sensor, an M steering wheel featuring multi-functional control buttons and an M gearshift lever.

The new edition model’s dynamic appearance is further enhanced by an exclusive body colour in Carbon Black metallic, the BMW Individual High Gloss Shadow Line for the window frame surrounds and the shaft covers. In addition, the Limited Sport Edition exclusively sports matt-finished Kamacite Grey headlight surrounds and rear bumper strip, a titanium kidney grille and, in the aluminium version, a matt-finished centre air intake grid. Further visual enhancements exclusive to the new edition model are matt-finished exhaust tips for the aluminium version and a white cover for the third brake light.

The interior ambience, which has been adapted to suit the dynamic character of this SAV model, is characterised by sport seats for driver and front seat passenger, doorsill trims sporting the Limited Sport Edition logo, an anthracite BMW Individual roof lining, a front arm rest, velour car mats with leather edge binding and finely brushed interior trims for the aluminium version. The seat covers featuring anthracite-coloured Alcantara middle sections, black Walknappa leather side bolsters, upper seatback sections, front seat surfaces and headrests are an additional distinctive feature developed exclusively for the new edition model. The seat backs have black piping bearing the striped M logo in light blue, dark blue and red.

The upper surfaces of the armrests in the door trim panels are finished in anthracite-coloured Alcantara. The armrests, the door panel inserts as well as the gearshift and handbrake lever bellows also boast BMW Individual Walknappa leather. In addition, the car’s individual appearance is accentuated by contrasting Everest Grey seams on the seats, the M leather steering wheel, the centre armrest, the handbrake lever, the handbrake and the gearshift lever bellows. As an alternative to Anthracite/Black, the seat covers and leather features are also available in the optional colours Criollo Brown and Champaign. Likewise, additional high-quality body colours are optionally available.

The Limited Sport Edition emphasises the characteristic qualities that helped the BMW X3 gain its ongoing popularity. With 500,000 units sold, the BMW X3 has developed into a global bestseller. Thanks to intelligent BMW XDrive all-wheel technology it uniquely combines agile handling on the road with superior traction on non-tarmac surfaces. As a pioneer in the all-wheel vehicle segment it continues to set standards in dynamics and driving pleasure. The sustained success of the BMW X3 contributes significantly to the fact that in 2008 BMW was once again the world’s leading manufacturer of all-wheel vehicles in the premium segment.

The BMW X3 also associates its status as an all-round talent with its unique position as an exceptionally high-class, safe and reliable premium product. This year, for the second time in succession, the SAV received from the world’s largest automobile club ADAC the “Gelber Engel” award in the category “Quality” as the most reliable vehicle on Germany’s roads. Furthermore, EurotaxSchwacke market observation experts honoured the BMW X3 with first place in the “Automobile Forecast Index” 2008 in the off-road vehicle assessment category, attesting it as having the lowest value depreciation in this particular segment.

The BMW X3 was also class winner of the 2008 J.D. Power study “Customer Satisfaction Index”. In this independent survey on car purchaser satisfaction in Germany, the Sports Activity Vehicle gained first place in the category for off-road vehicles. Moreover, the American Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) voted the BMW X3 “Top Safety Pick” 2008 and 2009 for its exceptionally comprehensive safety features and the outstanding results gained in the crash test. In 2006 and 2007 the BMW X3 was voted twice in succession “All-wheel Vehicle of the Year” by readers of the “Auto Bild Allrad” magazine. With convincing class victories during the same years it was also voted “Off-road Vehicle of the Year” by readers of the “Off Road“ car journal.

In the model year 2009 the BMW X3 is on sale with six different engine variants. The performance spectrum ranges from the 110 kW/150 bhp X3 xDrive20i to the BMW X3 xDrive35d boasting 210 kW/286 bhp. The 130 kW/177 bhp BMW X3 xDrive20d with an average fuel consumption of 6.5 litres/100 km and a CO2 emission of 172 grams/km is particularly impressive evidence of what is possible in terms of fuel economy even in the SAV segment, thanks to state-of-the-art engine technology and additional BMW EfficientDynamics technology. With this kind of efficiency its four-cylinder diesel engine offers an unrivalled and favourable balance between driving fun and fuel economy.
