AC Schnitzer BMW X5: A Second Wind for the 2014 Beast

The year 2013 saw the BMW X5 make its grand entrance into the automobile market. Yet, the celebration for this imposing SUV didn't end there. In 2014, tuning mavens at AC Schnitzer added a new dimension to the vehicle, shaping the third iteration of X5 into a vehicle that's hard to match in power, sporting performance, and superiority. This revamped version made its debut at the 84th Motor Show in Geneva in March 2014.

Power Upgrades Galore

The tuning experts in Aachen have prepared a slew of performance upgrades for the BMW X5. The X5 M50d, for instance, flexed its muscles at the Geneva Motor Show with a notable increase in its power output, from a standard 280 kW/381 hp to an impressive 316 kW/430 hp. Meanwhile, the X5 50i demonstrated that it truly earned the AC Schnitzer engine styling included in the tuning package, boasting an awe-inspiring 386 kW/525 hp, a significant jump from the standard 330 kW/450 hp.

Eco-Friendly Performance

All performance enhancements developed by AC Schnitzer follow the "Efficient Performance" principle, an approach that increases engine power without increasing CO2 emissions. The result? A more environmentally friendly vehicle where the CO2 value per hp has dropped, a commendable feat in the realm of automotive tuning.

Audible and Efficient Power

The AC Schnitzer iteration of the X5 doesn't just deliver power; it announces it with an enthralling sound, thanks to a stainless-steel AC Schnitzer silencer with two "Racing" tailpipe trims. Besides giving the vehicle a roaring voice, it optimises the exhaust gas flow, allowing the engine to operate more efficiently and further improving engine characteristics.

Suspension and Handling

With the AC Schnitzer suspension spring kit that lowers the vehicle by 30 mm (front) and 20 mm (rear), the modified X5 promises excellent road contact and an enhanced driving experience. This handling improvement is achieved by optimal lowering combined with modified residual spring travel, ensuring balanced spring hardness.

Wheeling in Style

Wheel choices for the AC Schnitzer X5 reaffirm that size matters. The SUV boasts Type VIII forged racing rims in 21 or 22 inches, or Type VIII alloys in BiColor, Black or Silver in 20 inches. Type V forged alloys in BiColor or Anthracite in 22 inches also grace the X5, along with Type IV rims in BiColor in 20 inches, specifically designed for the all-wheel drive.

Impressive Aerodynamics and Interior

The Aachen tuning experts didn't overlook the aerodynamic elements. The redesigned front and rear skirt, including a rear diffuser, not only enhance airflow but also emphasise the X5's athletic stance. Inside the cockpit, an array of refinements from AC Schnitzer greets the driver, including aluminium pedals, a footrest, an AC Schnitzer keyholder, and velours footmats. The raised seating position offers a commanding view of the road and a pleasing sight of the tastefully upgraded interior.

A Majestic Revival

Even fresh from its introduction, the AC Schnitzer BMW X5 doesn't fail to offer a renewed sense of excitement. With a combination of power, sporting performance, and superior design, the X5 by AC Schnitzer stands as a testament to the possibilities of automotive tuning, a treat for both SUV and tuning enthusiasts.
